HEART HEALTH

Three years ago, I had a heart attack and would have  died if Calgary Foothills Hospital had not saved my life. Heart disease is still the number one cause of death in men and women in Canada. I am now trying to live a life of adventures in the time I have left. Please consider giving to the Foothills Cardiac unit, by clicking on the heart on top.

My Story

On Feb. 24, 2020, my life changed forever, and almost ended. I awoke in the morning with cramping in first my left arm, and then my right, before it spread to my chest. I knew something was wrong, but I still felt pressured to head to work. I was in pain but not as much pain as when I had my appendix out. After discussion with my spouse, we decided she would drive me to the Calgary Foothills Hospital. It was a decision that would save my life. Through testing, especially an angiogram, they learned I had severe blocking of my arteries. I had to be hooked up to nitroglycerine and other chemicals just to stay alive. Had I deferred the decision to go to the hospital, you would not be reading this. I write this three years later and am still recovering. Everyday I am reminded that I have to be careful with my health, as my arteries are so clogged I am told I will die of a heart attack. Over the next while, I will share what I have learned about hearth health, how to prevent heart issues, and how to recover from them. I will post something new twice a month, on the first and the 15th. Hope you find it useful.
